I own 25 Japanese Maples and am familiar with almost all of the nurseries in the Bay Area that sell them. Wildwood has the best selection by far! Getting there from Berkeley is somewhat of a trek, but I am so grateful I finally went! The nursery has a magical feeling to it, as one can sense in the photos. Joe is extremely knowledgeable and patiently described to me various dogwoods, which they also specialize in. I ended up getting just what I wanted and will come back for some Japanese maples.

It is not just the wide variety of maples and dogwoods they offer, but the quality of pruning is exceptional. Some competing nurseries do not prune smaller maples and leave it to the new owner. Joe teaches pruning and would never do this. It is most important to prune as the young tree grows to maximize its beauty and health.

I will never shop anywhere else for these exquisite trees!

This family owned nursery is exceptional in many ways. Their impressive knowledge about Japanese Maples and other beautiful trees, their attentive customer service orientation and their careful planting and follow-up are some of the reasons that make this place special. We have purchased 7 trees from Joe and Sara and have been extremely happy with the products and greatly appreciative of their follow-up and his genuine interests in both the trees' and our satisfaction with the results.

For anyone looking for the most extraordinary selection of Japanese maples, and related trees, this emporium in Northern California is a must see destination. In stock are abundant specimens of every size, color, shape and maturity. We who live nearby are very fortunate indeed, and for those not so lucky, they ship anywhere.
While shopping there I mentioned to Joe Monte ( son of owners ) that I needed some help shaping and pruning my large maple garden, and he brought his expertise, tree ladders, tree tape and deep knowledge of how best to prune these marvelous trees, and went to work. I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. Check out his video on home page demonstrating some of his work. Thank you Joe

They have pretty good selection of Japanese Maples, and their web site has really good description of the leaves color variation through a year, shape of the maples and the size of grown maples. Checking their web site before you go would help to select the ones that would be best for your gardens. The entrance is not very noticeable. We had to u-turn after passing it. So, do use the Kenwood inn and spa as a reference.

Phenomenal selection of maples! We were in Kenwood for a weekend of wine-tasting. Jerry at Birmingham B&B pointed us toward Wildwood after we mentioned we were looking for something for the backyard. We ended up visiting twice and coming home with a stunning dwarf Orangeola. In those two visits we saw hundreds of maples and were able to select the precise foliage, size and shape we wanted. They clearly know their stuff and take marvelous care of their trees.

I've worked with Joseph at Wildwood Nursery for two years on our fruit orchard in Kenwood. He advised us on the care of about 250 fruit trees, and he recommended, sourced, and delivered 50 new trees. He's dependable, knowledgeable, and thoughtful about how to best care for our orchard. Pricing is competitive and quality of service and product is exceptional. I'd highly recommend Wildwood.

This nursery is in CALIFORNIA. IF you live in California good luck trying to get a nursery
outside of California to send you a Japanese Maple. Your tree will be half dead when you
get it if you get it at all.
Wildwood Nursery has a fabulous selection of Healthy Japanese Maples grown in California, and shipped to your door in record time. Sarah was a pleasure to talk to over the phone.
She was happy to answer questions and give recommendations.
She also made sure I had a tracking number.
I am currently near Palm springs and I got my tree in only 2 days and it was perfectly fresh
and packed with soil and wet newspaper around the plump roots. The tree was carefully packed
and it didn't lose any leaves. My tree was bigger than I expected it to be.It is 33 inches tall and over
1/2 inch diameter. I ordered ACER PALMATUM "INABA SHIDARE". I have had the tree potted
and even in 90 degree temps. it is healthy and nice looking. I give my tree afternoon shade and plenty of water when it is hot like this. Be careful not to drown the roots. These trees need excellent drainage.

I stopped in to visit the nursery on my way to Santa Rosa and was very impressed with its inventory of maple trees as well as other types of trees. I highly recommend a visit to this nursery. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful--I will make this nursery a destination point whenever I travel north. Avid gardener in San Francisco.
