The Charter Oak Restaurant está ubicado en la intersección de Charter Oak Avenue y Main Street en Napa Valley, y es un restaurante impresionante que no puedes dejar de visitar si te encuentras en la zona.

El restaurante está situado dentro de una casa extraordinaria con ladrillo a la vista, una estética única y sumamente funcional. Con un amplio salón en el interior, una terraza exterior y unas glamping en el patio trasero, el lugar es un verdadero oasis gastronómico.

Es importante reservar con anticipación para asegurar un lugar en este popular restaurante. Nosotros fuimos en un grupo de cuatro y a pesar de llegar tarde debido al tráfico de San Francisco, el personal nos permitió posponer nuestra reserva y nos asignaron una mesa en la terraza exterior. La experiencia fue maravillosa.

Nuestro mesero nos recomendó pedir varios platos para compartir, ya que la carta ofrece opciones de Family Food como el lo definió. Probamos el Oyster Mushrooms y el Roadster Daikon, ambos muy recomendables. En cuanto al postre, probamos el helado de crema con sal gruesa, que aunque tenía un sabor particular, no lo recomendaría.

En cuanto al vino, tomamos dos botellas muy buenas. Un POE que es un Pinot Meunier de de Sonoma, y un Hendry que es un Merlot de Napa Valley. Este último fue espectacular.

En resumen, The Charter Oak Restaurant es uno de los mejores restaurantes que puedes visitar en Napa Valley. Con su hermosa ubicación, estética única y excelente servicio, lo recomiendo encarecidamente para aquellos que buscan una experiencia culinaria inolvidable en la región.

Eating here is an HONOR. 5 stars is an understatement. Every single thing is the best of its kind. They gave us bubbly on the house and veggies for a longer wait time, and the vegetables + dip were incredible. The burger, immaculate. The trout, buttery as ever. The wings, AN EXPLOSION. Thank you to whoever opened this restaurant - you are doing the Lord’s work!

Thought this place might lean a little pretentious given the zip code. Turns out, I couldn’t have been more wrong.

We went for the Yurt experience, and let me tell you, the value here is outrageous. Most prix fixe spots serve you just enough to remind you how hungry you are. Not this place. We left with leftovers that basically made for a second meal. Don’t let the photos fool you—like I was fooled. We’ve done the prix fixe circuit, and I had my doubts, but man, the so-called “simple” dishes here—like the mushrooms—had a smoky, charred depth that hit you right in the soul.

Then there was the Dungeness crab broth—ridiculously good. And they just kept pouring it. As in, “Yes, please, keep that coming forever.”

The trout? Probably one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had. It looked so unassuming—just fish on a plate—but the execution was pure mastery. Perfectly cooked, no flashy gimmicks. Just skill. Serious applause to whoever’s working that kitchen—chef, line cooks, everyone. You nailed it.

Oh, and the bread and butter? Simple, yes, but somehow unforgettable.

The staff was fantastic—laid-back, friendly, and totally on their game. The yurt setup itself was a win. It felt private and intimate, the perfect answer for anyone still COVID-conscious but craving a real dining experience. Think Wes Anderson diner vibes in the best way possible.

The floor manager stood out, too. They came over and asked the rarest of questions: “What didn’t work for you on the menu?” Honest curiosity, real feedback, none of that performative nonsense. That’s how you know these people care.

Genuine food, genuine service, genuine people. Places like this are rare—hold onto them

We came there for our first dinner at Napa with high expectations about food, service and view. The price is high as expected, the view is romantic and cool when you stay outside. We waited for a while for entrees with a $20 salad appetizer...it was not bad, mix sauce every single leaf. We order half grilled chicken and shoulder pork chop with corn and rice. The food was good with even spices and smoky flavor. However the service was bad. It started well with friendly chat and order fast, after the appetizer came, no one came or stopped by to ask, then food came by another waiter, and continued our waiter didn't come to ask about either how food was or we needed to order more wine...until we finished and gave a check.
It is the fine restaurant with good food but the service was not at the high level.
Recommend for food, but up to you comes with luck with service.

Nope. This is for the Yurt Experience. I just can't recommend this restaurant based on our experience.

This is a tough review in that there were so many great elements here. And the execution was just off.

The Yurt isolated us from everything. We felt abandoned at times. The main service and wine service didn't seem to cooperate. Often wines were 5-10 minutes behind.

Portion sizes were too large (and yes, that seems crazy), but as out-of-town guests we weren't taking food back to our B&B. So we ate more at the start of the meal and less towards the end since we were filled. A fixed course meal usually is more balanced leaving you satisfied at the end and not full before the main course. And we were left for long periods of time with each course, so we picked at them waiting for the next course.

And the main course was required to be the same for everyone. No exceptions. And we decided on the duck. The dark meat was brilliant! The breast had some crispy elements, but generally overcooked and tough. Bummer!

The raw vegetables were a head scratcher. The fermented soy was exquisite. The giant bowl of raw carrots and broccoli were too much. You're proud of the veggie, great, but consider my experience and tone it down.

The oysters were a 100% yes! Homemade Worcestershire sauce was beyond description.

Caviar supplement, which was optional, felt like a loner since there were no accoutrements and we just added it to other dishes.

The value here was missing. For $900+ with wine pairing for two, I expect outstanding service, food I want more and to leave feeling better than when I arrived. None of the above for me.

Maybe the main restaurant would provide better service and more value. Skip the Yurt for sure.

One and done. Do not recommend.
