FATAL POISONING. I purchased a “Royal Poinciana” from this nursery about a year ago. A few days after Christmas, this past year, my dog suddenly experienced what presented like severe symptoms of poisoning/toxicity & he had to be euthanized.

The tree has finally begun to bloom.

The beautiful tree I have in my back yard, who’s flowers have been gathered by my daughter for weeks now and placed in cups of water to “bring them back”, that fall into her trampoline each day, the flowers that she sticks behind her little 3 year old ears are those of an AFRICAN TULIP TREE. A tree that’s known to be toxic to children and dogs.

While at the nursery, the tree was basically dormant. It had no flowers. I’d never seen a royal poinciana in person, so without flowers, I had no idea.

I’ve only realized this within the last half hour, so I’ve absolutely no idea what steps I will take next, but I do know the chainsaw is coming out tomorrow morning and it will be gone by the evening.

Providing pictures for reference. Look up the flowers of a Royal Poinciana and those of an African Tulip. There will be no question in your mind once you take a moment to compare the flowers I have to the photos you find.

I absolutely love this place. Previously on Hillsborough Ave the location was only minutes from my home. I was absolutely devastated when that location was just packed up and gone one day. So you could imagine the joy when I heard he had reopened, only in RiverView. A bit of a hike to get to this location, and it is indeed very muddy. The man in charge is very elderly but so kind, knowledgeable and always is very helpful. So keep this in mind when visiting. My favorite place for plants- you just can’t beat the pricing so worth it getting a little dirty 😉 I hope this new location is a hit, I’ll be sad if I have to grieve this place twice!

Drove out to this location to find a muddy, swamp full of overgrown and uncared for plants. My shoes got completely ruined from walking through. No one here to help or make sense of it at all. Feels like you’re walking through someone’s unkept backyard. Literally unable to access most plants and areas. Awful awful experience.

This lot was a plant parents dream. So many plant. Hibiscus, fiddle fig, palm trees and mangoes, Aloes.

My moody teen picked her succulents.
3 year old got to stomp around the freshly watered plants and we were amazed at the desert rose.
I got my caladium nice colors and pink red healthy leaves. We cant wait to return they have all types of shrubs and flowers!

Takes some water and a hat and take a stroll it worth it!!

I drive far to get to their new location and it is DEFINITELY worth it. They offer delivery with a reasonable fee and are always anywhere from $3 to $5 less than any other nursery. They also have great plants that you won't find anywhere else and plants at MUCH less than other nurseries so you can buy more! #girlmath 😆 Wear good sturdy shoes because sometimes the plant beds get muddy but TRUST you're gonna want to get in between the rows and search for the plant you didn't even know you were going to need to make your plant goals come true! From succulents to palms, trees, flowering plants to trendy insta-worthy plants, you're gonna find it all here. 😉 🌴🪴

Nice employees. I bought a tree but the county won’t let me plant it. I brought it back 2 days later and was told the company does not accept returns, only exchanges. Pretty inconvenient considering I don’t have a green thumb at all.,

This place is awesome! There is a huge selection of healthy, inexpensive plants, trees and flowers! The owner and employees go well above and beyond to assist you. This is our new “go to” place for sure!

Would have been five stars if we were treated better. The lady working there seemed annoyed and told us they closed at 5:00 when we were there at 4. Great selection of plants and flowers but not great customer service.
