Garbage college. Its covered in used bug cocoons they never cleaned up and massive wasp nests they refuse to take down. The parking lot is riddled in bumps and potholes (I attached a picture with one of the larger potholes and a student in their car avoiding it). Campus is tiny, the staff are very two-faced (do NOT join SGA if you end up going) management is awful, the gym does not contain even the bare minimum, and the food pantry (which is designed for low-income students in need of food) will give you expired food (I got a box of cookies that was already expired and a yogurt that expired in APRIL 5 months ago) not to mention I signed up for a class with a specific teacher I chose due to their good ratings 5 months in advance only to find out the day of the semester starting that my teacher was switched last second on the same day for a teacher who is not living up to the class' expectations. Where in actual hell is my tuition money going? Surely not into the dean's pockets right?

I just went to the advising office to enroll in a 8wk class. First of all I was completely ignored by all of the advisors. Then this little girl that looked like a student herself told me that the class I want to enroll in has a prerequisite; which was false because the class I was trying to enroll in IS the prerequisite for another class. This is not the first time I have been screwed over trying to sign up for classes that start mid term. I don’t understand how they can’t hire people that know how to do their job!!!!

Worsttttttttt customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life . Expect to wait 2 hrs to be attended just to be sent to a room and wait another hour. The lady told me to come in the room and login so she could help me , next thing I know I see her going home , basically didn’t notify me or helped me at all. She literally left me stranded, then I ask another lady if she could help me , same story. Told me she would be right back ,and wasn’t useful at all on top of having an attitude. If I could give negative stars I would.

Hillsborough community college is the worst thing they could have built on this earth. The lack of communication is super duper clear. They don’t care about you. I must of called them 20 + times about registering for classes and my financial aid. Each time was a different answer. I haven’t never got the same answer twice. It’s ALWAYS a different answer anytimes you call or go up there. And each time I called and went up there it was the wrong information. They have the most incompetent people working there. I’m not sure how they even manage to work a phone. I applied and registered for classes in July and I was expecting to start 9/16 because that’s what I saw on my classes while registering. I WANT TO CLARIFY THIS IS MY FIRST TIME! I didn’t know there was deadlines other than classes you could drop or add. And I’m thinking I’m starting in September on the 16th so I’m thinking I have plenty of time for financial aid and to get my transcripts in. The entire time and the amount of times I have been in contact with HCC never was told about the deadline for Pell grant but my account was locked until the 24th of August and they told me the deadline was 23rd today 9/20/2024. And before they told me they would call me to let me know what was going on with my account being locked and they didn’t but either way I was dead because the deadline had passed anyways. But this entire time nobody tells me about a deadline or that my classes WERENT even covered by the Pell grant. I don’t find EVERYTHING out that was going wrong until the first of September. 2 weeks before classes start is when I’m told 1. My major wasn’t covered( they said if I change it fast enough I would still be able to get my money(lie 1000) 2. I found out the have to be registered in two classes to qualify (like yea the amount times I called thanks for telling me NOW when you have to actually do your job right? Right!) 3. Now I’m just finding out about the deadline for Pell grant making me ineligible for this semester after I asked them “ are you sure there is nothing else I need to do” …. “Oh no your good”…..

My younger brother moved to FL and studied at this school for his first year where the tuition was triple . After a year, the tuition is no longer tripled, but more than a year has passed. My brother has tried to submit all the documents required by the school, but he has to pay a high tuition fee. Nothing has changed. My brother has spent a lot of money. A lot of time has been spent on this problem but no one has been able to solve it and explain why?The department takes care of students very poorly

Unreal... everything was fine until I had to miss some classes due to some family matters then you see the real picture: the student veteran and financial aid rep (Steven U.) tells student vets they can fail a class and take it again since VA will pay for it anyway, but neglects to mention that the third time VA will not and it incurs out-of-state fees, then proceeds to kick student veterans out of work study with out remorse and no reason given all the while he has a steady income and secure job with flexible hours as he continues to be deceitful to student veterans; financial aid will only let you appeal a few times before you're denied aid, but no one tells you that; they also don't tell you they can block your scholarships meanwhile your hard work allowed you to earn them as they brag about how much money goes unclaimed by students and to apply to everything; at the very least, there have been some instructors who are exceptional and more than deserving of their titles as educators.

Maybe people should be asking •real• questions instead of "oh, um, what kinds of activities can I do at this school..?" -ridiculous.

This is genuinely the worst community college you can attend to. If your wondering “maybe its just her experience” its not, everyone i know that goes to this hcc always have nothing but bad to say. If you sign up here ur literally asking to be mentally drained. DONT get me started on their customer service…. Ive dealt with terrible services throughout my life but I swear on everything hcc is the worst out of all. They will try to help you about something that is completely hccs fault then literally just stop responding to your emails asking for help. I had to go to campus because the service over gmail is terrible and i wasnt even surprised that its even worse on campus. When i went i had to wait for atleast 2 hours until someone could help me. Once they called me in i said my problem and the customer service guy helped for 2 seconds and its like he gave up like he didnt know what to do. He acted smart like he knew what he was doing and told me he’ll email me soon fixing my problem. I went home got one email a week later that didnt fix the problem at all and when i emailed back he didnt respond like he KNOWSSS he doesn’t know what to do. Instead of being so stressed about the situation like always i started laughing like a psycho. Im so happy that part of my life is over and after a month it got fixed. Even when it got fixed it was so halfway. This semester almost the same thing is happening. Lets see how long until they respond to my email about an inconvenience thats 100% their fault.🙂 going to go crazy

With less expensive classes, great profesors (rate my profesor) and best financial aid (always got money back). I transfered from an expensive private university and I got better education here. Just stay in contact with your advisor before schedule your classes. Do your best, you will make the best of it if you want to learn.
