Enjoyed a family day here on a Saturday. Lots of boats, jet skis and kayaking. I like that the restrooms were clean. Plenty of picnic tables and grass space. They have a nice swimming area and another beach area on the opposite shoreline. It was very busy at the boat launch and would definitely be nicer with less traffic & noise. My daughter did come out with a leech on her foot after swimming for a while (gross) but the kids had a great time no matter.

Setting up reservations here was super easy online and not pricey at all. The recreation area was easy to navigate once there. Once sites are reserved a paper is pinned to the post at the site which is great with knowing which ones are to be occupied or not. We had enough room to set up (2)3 people tents and possibly would have room for another if we absolutely needed too. Restrooms were clean and stocked & the area looked well taken care of. There was an open fire pit with an option to cover with grate if needed. We enjoyed our stay!

Oh, yeah, baby birds are born on this Lake. On the shallow end, they are awesome to watch the mating and everything about I. Don't how many birds have watched and seen different ones? And every single year, there's something different of birds that's out there.
It's really pretty. Actually, just recently a baby gold Eagle. I think it was hit the roof on the top of the house and it sounded like an explosion and it landed in the yard for a couple hours. I got great pictures of it, and the mangpi would not leave its feet alone before little thing.

I've been camping in Alaska for over 20 years and I am amazed that I have never been to Finger Lakes State Rec Area. It is such an awesome little gem of a campground right in between Palmer and Wasilla. It's beautiful, clean, spacious, and quiet. And there is a boat launch for the lake, which allows motorized boats. You can fish on the lake or off one of the two docks. Fishing is supposed to be decent, but my friend and I had zero luck catching anything. The reason I gave 4/5 was the price of the campsites are really expensive per night ($25/$35 per night for tent/premium camping). I think the high cost becomes a bit prohibitive for the average camper and there are more cost friendly options along the Wasilla/Palmer Highway.

Took the family and made a wonderful day of memories. We kayak the 7 mile treck starting from Finger lake to Cottonwood lake to Mud lake and finally ended in Wasilla lake.

Beautiful day on water! Finger lake is great for the whole family. Camping, fishing, wading, bird watching or simply enjoying nature.
