I stayed here for a year for work and this place is amazing! The property is beautiful and peaceful, so relaxing to come home to after a long work day. If you're staying in the boardinghouse and choose one of Helen's meal plans, you won't regret it! I never had a bad meal cooked by her while I was staying there. Helen herself is also a great host: welcoming, kind, funny, and all-around a great person to rent from. She is very knowledgeable about Lake County and can give great recommendations for places to eat, wine taste, and sightsee as well! If you're visiting Lake County or looking to stay long-term for work, Finch Gardens is the perfect place to stay!

I stayed with Helen for 7 months. Finch Gardens was without a doubt above and beyond my expectations. The house and room was quiet, clean, and welcoming. The property itself was serene, scenic and peaceful with a beautiful oak tree in the center of the property. Helen was thoughtful and kind, and was always available if I had any questions. I truly enjoyed staying at Finch Gardens and will come back to stay in the near future.

Finch Gardens is a small ranch in a safe neighborhood that I would highly recommend for short or extended stay. Both the main house and condo are bright, fastidiously clean, and outfitted for comfort with fine linens. Helen has several friendly pets and livestock which added to the ambience for me. There’s plenty to see and places to relax on the beautifully cultivated grounds and it’s a 10 min walk to Main Street Kelseyville where you’ll find the shops, restaurants, and bars. Helen is a friendly, accommodating hostess and excellent cook. She’s a long time resident and knowledgeable about the area. *Sitting next to the fire on the patio in the evening is a must!

What a find! We ended up staying at the Finch Gardens "Boarding House" sight unseen and very last minute, due to a botched reservation elsewhere. We are so very glad we did! Helen was a most gracious and thoughtful host, and the house was clean and comfortable, as well as attractively and interestingly furnished. And with a fabulous kitchen! Her property is a little bit of peaceful heaven with a lovely garden and ample spots to relax in. Although we only stayed one night, it felt like a true vacation away from it all. There is Helen's smaller "Guesthouse" to rent as well, and my family is already plotting how we can rent both houses at the same time for a longer stay. We definitely look forward to a future visit. Finch Gardens is like your home away from home. I stayed at Finch Gardens twice while working on an extended project at Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport. Helen is a gracious host and the cottage is oufitted with everything you need inside and out. It is very nicely decorated too.

In addition, Helen will cook you dinner if you want a break from cooking or eating out. I would recommend Finch Gardens for both long term or short term rentals. The setting is lovely, the gardens are well maintained and offer lots to add to your meals too.

Our stay at Finch gardens was pretty relaxing. Adding to the charm were the friendly pets. My younger was so stuck with Sandy,the cat. The whole apartment had a farm house vibe to it and the numerous cushions in the various nooks provided the cosiness. The fireplace with its old world charm made up for the cold evening.My toddler was running around the farm the entire time. This is just what I needed, lots of open space ,farm animals and trees. Helen is sharp and knows her surroundings well.
