We had an excellent time at the historic Fallon Hotel. We arrived late and after hours, but the hotel staff had already contacted us and provided excellent information for how to get in and get to our room. The period furnishings in the hotel and appreciation of the history are fantastic. It is truly atmospheric. We were amusing ourselves reading the other reviews about haunting when suddenly the lights began to flicker and went out. Next morning the light worked again fine. The playful poltergeist proved its point!

It's a lovely step back in time. I had the perfect balcony view. You don't miss the TV in your room, when there's so much to do outside. Wonderful staff, cozy beds, and even a little ghost activity. Things got a little spooky around midnight. I'll definitely be back again.

We visited the ice cream parlor. Delicious! But you can never go wrong with ice cream and hot fudge. The cashier was very pleasant and the place is very clean. Also has that old time feel (the whole park does) and has a good vibe to it. I'd say if you're stopping by it's definitely worth going in and enjoying a cool down, especially in the summer.

It's always cool to stay in a historic property, but sometimes you have to sacrifice comfort to do so. Not here! The bed was soft and comfortable, the A/C worked perfectly (Columbia can broil in the summer so that's important), the noise level from adjacent rooms was zero (I almost thought we were alone in the hotel, but the rooms were about half occupied) and the property was amazingly well preserved and just lovely inside. Plus it was stunningly affordable! I have paid more at some budget hotels. Please do yourself a favor and stay here while you're in town. You will not regret it.

We enjoyed a very lovely fall day in Columbia! We chatted with the interesting and engaging grocery store owner(a must see) then had a great chicken pot pie at the tea shop. We then enjoyed a good afternoon performance of Grease before checking into our hotel. The streets were completely empty after the play. It was a amazingly beautiful. ||The Fallon hotel was also deserted but the friendly state park person that showed us to our room was great. The room (#3) was beautiful clean well appointed. No ghosts appeared for us we had a lovely sleep then walked to the bakery in the morning. |Perfect overnight get away!

Kind of a strange experience. We arrived very late and Chris from the saloon got us into our locked up hotel. We were the only ones there on a Friday night. The room was decorated in period furniture and very comfortable. The was a nice shower down the hall, very acceptable. There was a sink and toilet in the room. The porch was a nice place to sit. Overall a good experience.
My wife likes to think the place is haunted...so if they like that kind of thing... so be it.

Charming hotel. All of the rooms and the shared spaces are decorated in era appropriate style. There is no overnight staff on premise but there is a number to call for late arrival or any needs and the staff often call me before arrival to check on time.

Famous haunted hotel of the California gold Rush. The bride who died in the fire in the 1850's still walks the hallways as she waited for her new husband to return. Rooms are 1850-1970, elegant Hotel setting. Get old fashion ice cream in the parlor and watch theatre performances. A true gem of the California Gold Rush.
