When I started the process of looking for a contractor to work with for my backyard remodel I was determined not make the same mistake that I did with my inside remodel. That mistake was choosing the wrong contractor for the job. After I met with both Josh/Matt, had the chance to see past projects in person, and had a chance to speak with past clients I knew I had found the right company to work with. Conscious Environments stood out from all the other contractors I interviewed from the very get go. I am so happy I chose C.E. because they over delivered and exceeded my expectations. We recently had the pleasure of working with Conscious Environments to transform our backyard into an oasis of relaxation and entertainment.

From the initial consultation on design (we used them for design and construction) to the final touches, the team at Conscious Environments exhibited unparalleled professionalism and attention to detail. Matt's design expertise truly set our project apart. He took the time to understand our preferences and tastes and deal with the HOA in our community. Our backyard (which we refer to as our "retreat" now) is the envy of the neighborhood and our friends and family, and we're spending more time outdoors than ever before. Who doesn't like sitting by a warm firepit and night with a drink in hand and great conversation? Or taking a dip in the spa after a long day of work? We certainly do now!

From the large spa with the waterfall and fire bowls to the pergola with BBQ island to the firepit and amazing grass inlaid concrete, this is a visually stunning outdoor space that perfectly utilizes what a smaller backyard is capable of. Even almost a year after our project's completion, they helped us with a few minor issues we needed to resolve. Talk about customer service! Conscious Environments Inc. produces high-quality work and stands out above the rest! Josh Duncan (President/Owner) did an incredible job with our backyard project that consisted of an in-ground pool, above ground hot tub, decking, Duralum pergola, drainage, decorative rock, etc. Working with Josh and his crew was a pleasure. He and his crew were nothing but respectful to our family as well as our neighbors during the construction project for our pool and backyard. I was able to interview other pool builders in the Reno, NV area and Conscious Environments Inc., hands down, was the best choice for us. This company comes highly recommended by me and my family. We interviewed many contractors and choose Conscious Environments(CE) as they were upfront with costs and took the time to help us understand the fine details of our project. We had a large slope in our backyard, and we wanted to cut into the hill to increase the size or our backyard. We also wanted to open up our house and add a 12 foot sliding door that would extend to an outdoor California room with a fountain, seating area, dinner area, BBQ and play area. Josh spent a great deal of time with us working on the design prior to the project starting. After the project started Matt was great about guiding us on the materials to buy, selecting plants and finalized the details. CE was always available via phone for questions and quick to respond via e-mail. Their team also helped improved some items that were not in scope, such as reinforcing our fence and fixing some sprinkler heads. We could not be more pleased with the final result. The design and quality of work exceeded our expectations. We highly recommended CE, and we plan to use them again to improve our front yard.

If you like creative, awe inspiring designs, and high quality work, then Conscience environments is a great choice! We did a pretty large project (for us) and we couldn't be happier with how it all turned out.

We renovated our yard around our entire house. We took a mud pit back yard and turned it into modern pool / hot tub combo with tile wall and water fountain. They did an amazing job of utilizing the space. We have a raised wooden deck on one side with a BBQ island, tile on the other side, cool white stones separating large tiles, and a sunken fire pit area with it's own fountains...and lush tropical greenery throughout. They finished 2 years ago, and each visitor we get is always blown away when they walk into our back yard...we see a lot of wives elbowing their husbands with that "we need to renovate our yard" look 🙂

We had gotten 3 sketches from other good companies, and they were all fine...but kind of stock-standard. We felt like it would look like every other house with a pool/hot tub / grill. When we met Josh, we told him we wanted something unique, and our style was kinda "south beach / palm springs Chic". He came back with some thing no one else had come close to. It was an easy decision to want that kind of back yard.

It was during a rainy winter, so there were delays. We get that, but they could have communicated a little better about it...they admitted as much. We had some surprises along the way in how some items looked as they came to life, and to their credit, they were extremely accommodating. While they said our satisfaction was really important, it actually felt like that was the case. You can tell Matt takes great pride in what they do.

They have checked in on us a few times since the project was completed, and even come back to help address some things that they didn't have to.

They were not the most expensive, but they were not the cheapest either. But we were spending over $300K, so a few thousand more for that right product, and the enjoyment we get every time we walk outside is worth it for us.

As I've told them, if we end of doing more work, or in a house that needs a yard project, we would absolutely call them. I might try and include something in the contract about deadlines, but we trust them...and as more people see our yard, they point out quality elements we weren't even aware of.

The Conscious Environments team did a fantastic job on the front and back yard of our new home in Great Park, Irvine. They took their time to understand our tastes and goals for the yards, prepared detailed plans and reviewed them with us, made changes after reviewing the plans, then prepared an estimate, and then did the construction. Overall we are very happy with the process and especially the result. We highly recommend them as a landscaping design and build firm.
