Some of the hiking paths are still closed due to damage from Hurricane Michael, but there is a loop trail that runs by a lovely stream with stunning plant diversity. It's wonderfully cool here in the heat of the day. This park is cared for by a devoted group of stewards, and it is truly a crowning jewel for the city of Chattahoochee.

Really beautiful set of trails- they didn't look super frequently used, but made for a very nice nature hike. Good birding.

A hidden gem! We met a local who shared the history of this place. 100 years ago a pool was built at this location for the workers who built the bridge by Chattahoochee Park along the river. You can still see the concrete of the pool. A spring fed the pool. Will go back and take pictures. 💓 Trout lilies, Florida Scarlet, Rain Lilies are in bloom.

Over 3 and a half years after Hurrican Michael this park at the pavilion looks good BUT none of the Nature Trail have been restored.
Albeit, the trails were not kept up before, Other than some volunteers removing some non native species and minor clearing, thevtrails are not accessible.
Also, city tends to leave gates locked on weekends?
Still a nice park for locals who want to use pavilion for picnics or birthday parties.
There is sime older playground equipment for children.

The trails at Angus Gholson Nature Park are closed a year later with 100s of downed trees crisscrossing the slopes. The "state-listed" plants have been surveyed. Any clearing of trails and/or rerouting of trails is limited by these protected species. Obviously no tractors, UTVs, etc. Volunteers resumed their usual monthly invasive plant control Feb 2019. The parking area and pavilion are open. Good news is that down by the US-90 bridges, River Landing is being rebuilt and improved.

Actually.the system was assuming that the signal was the nature park where actually it was the parking area above the nature park which provides because of it's elevation a very nice westward view of Jackson County and depending on the season an elevated panorama of the potentially colorful sunsets on the west side of the Apalachicola River.

Beautiful park. Still has some damage from the hurricane but a peaceful place to sit.
